In Nursery this term the children have been learning through the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They have made and tasted different flavours of porridge in order to decide which one they like the best. They have acted out and retold the story to each other, made the house of the bears in the home corner, carried out a tallying hunt in the Nursery garden and compared sizes of different objects.

In Reception the children have been really interested in the legend of King Arthur of Camelot. Merlin has given us a magic book in which a new story about King Arthur and Camelot appears every week. We have been visited by a Knight of the Round Table, made our own Coat of Arms, crowns, shields and swords, made a large scale plan of a castle and tried to pull Excalibur out of the stone. Our large castle has battlements, a keep, a drawbridge, a round table, feather pencils to write with, banquet food which we eat from wooden plates and a moat with a crocodile in it!

We have looked at castles in non fiction and fiction books and on Google Earth and found out how and where they were built and built our own from small and large bricks and boxes. We have looked at the length and weight and ordered some of Merlin's magical objects and used them to carry out addition calculations. We have really enjoyed learning about King Arthur and Camelot.
